COSMOCAFES AROUND THE WORLD

Cosmocafes form the backbone of the Human Rights Pavilion.

Cosmocafes invite thinkers and dreamers, visionaries and realists to sit down at one table to share their views on the future, on human rights and on responsibilities.

They explore the condition for sustainable coexistence of individuals and human cultures with each other, and with other species on the planet.

Different Cosmocafes zoom into specific relevant topics: food, natural resources, migration, transitional justice, a place to live for everyone, equality, women’s right…

For each Cosmocafe, we seek out different international locations or events that highlight the importance and challenges of Human Rights and the importance of creativity and free thinking. More specifically, we organize cosmocafes at important art exhibitions or events and linked to the presentation of the UN Global report on Children deprived of Liberty around the world.

Each Cosmocafe is recorded and further processed to create an art piece that features inputs from all over the world. The final project will be presented to the 59th Venice Biennale with a proposal to establish a recurrent Human Rights Pavilion as part of the Venice Biennial.

With the Cosmocafes and the Human Rights Pavilion, we gradually build a global mycelium of people and organisations that bring the conversations and issues of human rights back in the middle of society, to the dinner tables, to the cafes, with the people, exploring its sensitivities and the challenges in our global and local structures and environments. We use art as our uniting language, the ultimate expression of free creative thinking and in that way a necessity for progression.

THE GLOBAL EXISTS ONLY THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF THE LOCAL
